Questions regarding the Swiss SWAT knife

Just pulled the trigger on one of these puppies earlier today. Should be receiving it later in the week. I hear they are rare and not many produced. What year were they made and how many out of curiousity ? I now have 3 RH blades (1 custom slicer and a production Spanto) since Christmas time. Damn things are multiplying like gremlins. Lol. Thanks for everyone's input.

I have a good idea where you found that one...

They were produced in 2011 for the Zurich SWAT team, I have never seen definitive answers as to how many were produced but there were enough for the Zurich SWAT team and then I am guessing another 5-10 of them based on the number I have seen in civilian hands. This is just a guess on my part and by no means definitive, Hinderer Knives doesn't really discuss production numbers and I am going just on my general observations on a few forums.

Regardless, they are not too common.
 
I am sure ýou would take a good guess as to where I had seen it. Lol. Was not cheap either but reason I had spent the coin is I had seen mutiple bids on Ebay over the Holidays on one (European seller) and it ended in the 1600 mark if I'm not mistaken. And I had taken a liking to it when first noticing it along with a few pics I had seen on this site. Nice screen name btw ;)
 
Does the seller also sell motorcycles and watches? ;)

I have heard 23 were made, 20 went to Zurich, 1 sold in a lottery here, and 2 others I would guess at a show. Of the 20 that went to the SWAT team, a handful were sold. RDA's guess of about 5-10 in civilians hands sounds about right.

To avoid any potential confusion, my comments were strictly about the SWAT knife and not some of the plain edge DLC coated XM-18s.
 
Might as well post a pic of my SWATs. The bottom one is my edc with a textured cf scale, and the top one is a safe queen, waiting to get traded for a Hellfire XM-18. :cool:

Sweet ! 2 SWAT's. I don't blame you in wanting a Hellfire blade. That is on my list also along with a 3" non flipper spearpoint. How did you manage to aquire 2 of them ?
 
The Swiss SWAT arrived via Fedex early this morning. Looks great (slightly used) which does not bother me a bit. Almost in new condition & this will be my EDC blade. I will probably end up selling the OD green production Spanto 3.5 being I won't be carrying it anymore & keep the custom slicer as the safe queen.
 
Well, I guess if I ever see your name go gold, I'll have to hop over to the sales thread. ;)
Congrats on a new EDC. For me the answer seems to be Hinderer as well.

Nice pic, BikerTrash. Green cordage was a proper backdrop for the black DLC.
