Anyone have experience with disassembling an old Western F488 fixed blade? At one time, mine was a standard length bird & trout knife blade. Not so much now after 35+ years of abuse.

I'd like to take the knife apart down to the aluminum & fiber spacers. Would a derlin (or metal rod) be the preferred punch do the job to drive out the pommel butt pins?

And, maybe a better question, are the butt pins tapered? Can the pins be taken out any direction or just R or L?
