quich linguistic related question

I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but i think it might stem from the items being sold being things found stored in ones garage. Alternatively, it might stem from the actual sale being held out of ones garage. If you meant a much deeper linguistic reading, such as what is the origin of the word garage, then i do not currently know. Sorry.

Because it is held in the garage/ driveway of the home, just like if its in the yard it's called a yard sale.

Yep, just like me, another non-native English speaker! I always thought babies born in the US were tough. I mean you guys actually hire a baby sitter to handle your little ones :D!

A man was driving down the street and saw a sign that said "GROJ sale Saturday". He came back on the weekend and looked around. When he met the woman holding the sale, he complimented her on spelling "garage" so cleverly, it really caught his eye.

She told him it wasn't meant to be "garage". It stood for Get Rid Of Junk.
