Quick Question:
-kershaw leek, serrated or plain?
-used for cardboard, paper, conversation piece for the ladies, beer cap opener, shaving when i get the nerve to use it, cutting fruits, vegetables, steak, tomatos and other semi-soft stuff, maybe some apples.

SERRATED OR PLAIN?

Thanks :D

Plain....a really sharp plain edge seems to do the trick for me on fruit where serrated is usually the choice.

rope? fiberous stuff? and a serrated edge is more of a conversation piece as well better looking isnt it?

Okay. First of all, plain.

Second of all: beer cap opener? Shaving?

Plain.

If you want to open a beer buy a SAK. I haven't, nor can i think of, an effective way of popping the top off a beer using a knife. If you have please, by all means share.

Haha you heard me :P

Okay noted, the auction I won for $34.75 was for a SERRATED edge, though I emailed him. Kinda late now so I don't expect a reply, and those damn ebay power-sellers always are too busy for customer service. If I'm lucky he will see my request in time and send a plain. Thanks for fast responses guys. (I love this forum)

Yeah, I want to know how to open a bottle with a knife too. Preferably a way that doesn't carry a high risk of accidential amputation of a few fingers. If you really want to open bottles with you knife get something like the Buck Metro.

Any sufficiently hard object can be used as a lever to open a beer bottle. (I said sufficiently hard, you bastids! :D)

I'd recommend using the handle of a closed folder, if you're set on using a knife to do this.

grab the bottle tight, insert knife [lighter, pen, maglite solitaire,, etc] about 0.5 inch beneath your pointer. use pointer to pry cap of. works best with lighters, although i dont have much experience with the weird caps that one can screw of. swiss army knifes work that way as well, but it screws the handle.

regards, cheez

p.s. it's basically the only way we open bottles here, since there's always a lighter or something, but bottle openers are rare.

Not meaning to hijack the thread here but I figure you've gotten plenty of replies by now...(PLAIN by the way!)

Most of my balisongs excel as beer bottle openers. I normally use my BM 42. Open the knife a few inches, insert bottle so that swedge is under the lip of the cap on one side and the safe handle is securing the cap on the other side. Squeeze, and torque. I hope my description is adequate for visualization?
