Quick afternoon hike

Howdy folks-

I had the day off today and decided to go on a quick hike with my wife. The weather was perfect for it, and the leaves are starting to turn so it's quite colorful out. The location is a small local nature sanctuary. Most everything you can imagine is against the rules here, but it's still nice to have something nearby to go and get a woods fix.

Not much 'meat' to this thread, just a bunch of pics. Enjoy!

Great pictures. Those mushrooms look like oysters. Big patch too. Thanks for sharing.

You found some oyster mushrooms but they are to old. Been searching for some with no luck.

Cool pics, Spooky. Did you use the Skookum to carve the pumpkin?

Looks like a nice hike.

Great pics buddy, looks like my kinda place !!!!

Is that plant Smooth Sumac ? If so good find as edible plants are few and far between this time of year !

Thanks guys! The pumpkin is actually part of the small trails that lead up to the visitor center, pretty festive of them! Not my handiwork.

Good eye too Pitt, that is indeed smooth sumac! I've never made the indian lemonade from it, but I'd like to give it a whirl some time.

The cliffs are largely limestone too, kentucky has a lot of it!

Hey, Spookey, was that the Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary? That is only about 8 miles from me. I haven't been there in years! Beautiful day you :)had.

Howdy fox! That was Raven Run, off Tates Creek road extended, near Lexington. Never been to Buckley!

By the way, any cool stomping grounds near you? Always hunting for an out-of-the-way area closer to Lexington than red river gorge.

Spooky,

Great pics. Looks like you guys had a great time. I wish I could get my wife to go hiking.....
