I don't get to just get out an wander as much lately, crazy work load at the moment, and more of it involves spending money than making money it seems, which doesn't help. But I had to get out Tuesday to clear my head and look around for a few things, so I thought I'd share a few pics.

Most of the leaves are down down, but the rains keep the streams running.

When I travel quick and light I like just cramming some snacks into my water bottle carrier with a knife attached, and compass, light, and fire starter in the pouch so I can just throw my main gear over my shoulder and go. The sheath on the carrier is from another knife of course, but it fits a few of my knives in this size range so I have bought a couple of extras. It's better for the environment I live in when it is raining than leather. It has not been raining the last couple of days, and one of my favorite knives is my Recluse in tapered 3/16 O-1. A synthetic handle would likely be better for me, but when it comes to smaller Fiddlebacks in tapered 3/16 it's not like the market is flooded with options. Seeing that it fit the sheath well enough, makes me hope for a mid-tech Recluse in CPM S35VN at some point in the future. The Recluse is one of my favorite Fiddleback models. Though I do love the heft, feel, and balance of this particular Recluse very much.

It was ironic to run across a flock of turkeys so close to Thanksgiving. I tend to see loads of them as long as I don't have a gun...

I finally wound my way over to one of my favorite meditation spots on the side of the mountain and chilled for a while with a nice snack. Man it was good to get away away, even if it was only for a few hours.

Great post Mist. I love the stream and Turkey shots. I recently saw a nature show called "My Life as a Turkey". It is about a guy who raised some wild turkeys and lived as one of them for a year. I will never see a picture of a turkey the same again. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a spare hour and is stuck inside.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoyed the post. It wasn't as in depth as I would like to have done, but it was nice to get out away for a while!

Todd, having spent a lot of time observing wild turkeys , I imagine that is pretty interesting, I'll have to check it out when I have time.

I agree. That was one of the most interesting documentaries. It will change anyone's view of a turkey!! Highly recommend it, as well!!!

That's awesome. Looks a lot like my neck of the woods, what trail/mountain was that? Thanks for sharing. Also pretty great to find that pink shrub still hanging on... I didn't see any left on my outing today :)

Brian,

Thanks for visually taking us along on your hike. Tennessee is a beautiful state. Your photos always look like excerpts from the tourism board brochures.

I am glad that you found some peace and solitude from your busy worldly obligations. Enjoy the season and the color changes that it brings.

Thanks for the ride! :) it did me some good to get out Vicariously Through you :)

Keep them coming

What is this "Autumn" you speak of? Down here we have Summer and Winter and if we are really lucky we have a week or two of "spring".

Great pics.

Thanks for the photos! I actually saved looking at them until today, so I could "get away" from work when I needed it.

That looks beautiful. I love TN.

Thank you, depending on where you are, I guess it is the same mountain range for both of us, so I understand the similarities, and then with you being so much further north I suppose your winter comes on faster than our's does :)

Very cool pics!

Thanks Whitty! Hopefully by spring I will get a chance to take some in a section of woods a little bit closer to your area :)

Thank you Phil. Between the kitchen and all the emails and questions on some of the new designs that are just hitting the net, I am having to spend far too much time indoors lately. But it should level off some soon :)

Thank uou. Yeah, I remember the absence of seasons when I lived in the keys, the temps changed and that was about it.

Thank you sir, very glad I could be of assistance with that escape! :)

Thank you Andy. Yeah, I love it here too. Love the mountains and woods anyway...the politics of the city below suck ass...but I know that isn't limited to here, so since I escaped that city, I may as well deal with it when I have to go there and just enjoy my favorite woods :D
