I've seen some of these on youtube and thought it was about the most awesome thing I had ever seen and just had to have one. So I made this one out of an old weight belt I had laying around. Works great.

Who ever though of this thing originally was a real genius. I've read that the concept goes back to 1968 when they were made for Bikers and Truck drivers, who needed a good blade but could not carry a fixed do to state laws.

Seen a few of those before. There are few ideas I like less than carrying around a half-open Buck 110 on my belt but I guess they felt it was necessary to protect themselves. Nice leatherwork, anyway.

Thanks, This one I built with a flap that will protect your leg should the knife start to open up.

I remember those things from way back, yea 1970's I'm old ok, :p Its really nifty to see these still viable today.

As previously stated its not defensive, its utility, those lockbacks before thumb studs were a pill to open one handed, this sheath design cured that in a very well thought out way. :D

What did you use as your pivot point?

A fella sent me one to replicate and it had a nylon washer in it about 3/8" dia. x 1/8" thick.
It worked pretty good so I used one on my version (his was riveted together and I stitched mine)
