Quick Emerson history question...

I was reading my copy of Knives 2006 and the article on the evolution of the CQC-7. To cut to the chase, it says that the mini-7 was not released until 2004. However, mine is clearly marked 2001 on the blade. What's the deal with that? Just poor research on the author's behalf?

IIRC they came out ~ '99 or so, IIRC i had a '00 one myself at one time,
