Went to a gun show to buy a long barrel .32 to keep in my GMC & found it at the 3rd booth. Unusual in appearance but strangely appealing,I priced it & asked who/where/when made.

I bought a .32 long Russian pistol for $130 & he threw in a holster This gun was made in 1895, stored & refurbished & issued in 1943 when the Germans were attacking on all fronts . It was probably issued to the home guard. It holds seven of those long rounds.

It is a cherry relating to it's age . I'll have to wait a bit to shoot it because they built a school across from the shooting range & the new one in the boonies isn't finished yet.

The freebee turns out to be a Walther holster & is real leather. I Armoralled it & it looks almost new.

Left in a hurry & had to return for ammo because I was excited about my purchase & forgot. Decided to brouse a bit & found a sister gun for $185 so I believe I had a profitable day .

I'm sure there are others more knowledgeable than me, so wait for more replies, BUT...

I'd be concerned about using modern ammunition in such a non-modern gun.

See what others say, though.

That's really not an issue, Scott. All modern ammunition in .32 long is designed to be safe in old guns because there are no modern guns in that caliber. :)

Cool Gun!! Show Us Some Pics...

Model 1893 Lebel revolver . Mine appears to be a clone except the Lebel fired an underpowered 8MM slug .

After comparison, they are actually the same except for the caliber.

I can get a photo but will ask one of you to please post it.

If it's the commonly available surplus Russian revolver I think it is, it's usually hard to find the correct original ammo for it, but I'm pretty sure our .32 S&W and .32 S&W Long works in it. I would not fire the hotter .32 H&R Magnum ammo in it, though, if it fits. I've seen a little of the correct ammo (7.62 Nagant maybe?) advertised, but I think it was about 50 cents a round. Maybe the supply has improved since I saw that, though.

Sounds like you picked up an 1895 Nagant gas-seal revolver.

If you know where to look, you can find them for $80 or less if you're good.

I am about to contact that dealer in my town. He only works shows & I plan on offering a cash infusion if he finds a big lot opportunity & ensure my enhancing my collection for bupkes .

Thanks to all the foregoing for tips & comments. Incidentlly,S&W auto doesn't have the rim of the .32 long & won't work:D.

...a .32 to keep in my GMC...

Unc, please don't get into the habit of leaving firearms in unattended vehicles.

Sooner or later, your luck will run out and someone will smash a window and help themselves.

Then, someone else's luck might run out...

It sounds like you've bought a Nagant M1895:

I'm surprised that anyone loads modern ammo for such an unusual veteran.

On the money,all counts.

Guess I'll keep the .32 stainless Colt with the 2" barrel in my console. Virtually no crime in my area & I keep a 12 gauge 'presuader' inside my garage. My house[outside] is timer lighted with 2 high-powered intruder lights backup. My dog is predominately Rhodesian Ridgeback & loves combat
