Quick Leatherman Crunch question.

Hey,

I've been trying to decide whether to get a Leatherman Sideclip and a tool adaptor or a Leatherman Crunch. One of the deciding factors is the hex bit driver on the Crunch. Locking pliers would be pretty okay, but they're not a NECESSITY; all the other tools seem equally desirable on both tools.

For those of you who have the Crunch, is the hex driver well done? Is it too inconvenient to unscrew the whateveritscalled in order to get to it? Is the retention mechanism set up well (I've heard a couple of times that it doesn't hold the bits in well.)

Any general opinions about this tool? Seems like it hasn't been talked about nearly as much as the rest of the Leathermans.

Thanks for your time,
James

I have the Cruch and other Leatherman tools. I'd have to say skip the Cruch for the sideclip and adapter. Unless you need the locking feature, I think the sideclip will prove more useful. Or ......get both:) I own about 6or 7 Leatherman tools of various shapes and sizes. It's cool to have one stashed everywhere it might be needed.I never really intended to own so many but hey stuff happens.A trade here a trade there......

The hex driver on mine works fine. It's a solid block of SS and is spring-loaded. I do find the other members of the Leatherman family to be generally more useful--especially the Wave and Pulse.

I've got a Crunch in the tool-bag on each of my motorcycles. Haven't had to use either yet, but I sure wished I had them before I got 'em!

I keep a Flair in my glove-box, Supertool in my truck tool-bag, Wave in my hunting bag, PST in my shooting box and a micra in my first-aid kit and on my keychain.

Probably some others scattered around as well!

Mike

The Crunch is my favorite of the various Leatherman models, inasmuch as the locking pliers, in a pinch, can serve as a wrench. I've never used the hex driver, though, so I can't comment on that aspect of the Crunch.
