Just received a new generation recon 1 plain edge clip today. It is a bit larger than I usually tend to carry but it is light and thin enough I hardly notice it in pocket of either jeans or cargo shorts. The handle is very course out of the box, even more so than a new emerson g-10. Hopefull it will wear down a bit like my A-100 did. Definately a pocket ripper right now since the clip is very tight, which is good to me. Does come with an xtra clip for leftys since the handle is curved. With small clip grip is comfy and it tends to appear a much smaller knife in pocket both by feel and appearance. There is some halfass jimping on spine in the handle scales only and is pretty much useless. But like I said handle is very comfortable( haven't had chance to use for any extended period of time yet). On to the blade..... Razor sharp, easily shaves arm hair and slices newsprint and reg paper. Made a makeshift fuss stick out of a pencil at work. And slashed thru a water bottle in single cut. All in all I am really impressed and will be edc'n this one for a while. Try and post pics later if anyone is interested as I'm doin review on my phone at the moment. Thanks

Do post pics if possible

I have the Rajah 1 and 2, and like the Tri-Ad lock so much that I decided to order the Recon 1 and American Lawman as knives that I can more easily EDC. I look forward to receiving them :)

I have the old Recon 1 with the older locking system. I'm glad to hear you like the new one. I carry the older model every day.

Take off the clip, and sand down the handle scales with some 400 grit sandpaper. It smooths out pretty quick, so go slow and get it down to your liking before you take it down too far. That'll keep it from shredding your pockets.

I ended up scraping off the teflon blade coating and smoothing out my Recon 1 handles, and I like it so much more.

Not sure why anyone needs G-10 that is so coarse since that handle shape refuses to let your hand slip around with even moderate grip strength. Personally, I think that the guys at CS are trying to give us options.

I'm liking mine, not sure if it's really an improvement over the previous generation except for being lighter. Mine came with an edge grind that was very asymmetrical - I should have called CS to see if I could exchange it. Instead I just got out a heavy stone and fixed it myself, had to remove a fat 1/32" to even it out. Sanded the grip and scraped off the black coating on the blade too, put it into rotation and I'll have more feedback in a week or two.

I just recently got one of the discounted G-10 handled Ak-47 which has the same coarse handles.I found that by losing the pocket clip tension by simply bending it solve the problem for me.

I generally like the older versions of the Recon 1 and the AK better. It generally also depends on what your pants are like - I'm wearing my $20 cargo pants and, having used the recon 1 as an EDC for years, I haven't had a rip in these.

I have a very old version bottom (Made in Japan) and the newer one shown here for comparison.

I have a new model coming whenever it gets here. :)

Hey, thanks for the quick look! As I want to try out a tanto EDC, this one was an option for me for a while, but I've given up on it and am waiting for the new 3" CS Voyager now.

BTW, my very first post on these forums, hiya all, still getting to know the place!
