Hi guys - I've a 79/80 era 501 with the burgundy micarta handles coming, and IIRC, these were still being made with 440C blades. Am I correct in that?

**Also in the box will be one the new small Brahma's. Looking forward to seeing it in hand after you guys shared your pictures.

Thank you!

Pretty sure Buck changed the 110 to 425M in 1981 so I would think a 501 from 79/80 should still be 440C but others may know better than I.

I think hammer is close. If it has laminated birch handles it is 1981 or after and most long term collectors think it was 1982 when Buck switched to 425M with that model. When this switch occurred can be a little different with the models but it will be close to the time the switch was made with the 110. If it has block lettering stamp it is from or after 1984. No other change occurred with this model until the year date stamps. DM

Thanks guys - it's coming from Larry O. and he indicates it has the script 3 line lettering with burgundy micarta. Circa 79/80. So I'm figgering he, and you guys as well, are the experts who'd know for sure. He didn't indicate the steel type so that's why I was wanting to confirm what I had gathered after a search. And Bucks 440C gets good reviews here.

Appreciate the help!
