quick ? on fine belts

I see that some belts are measured in grit & some in microns. I gather that as grit # increases the belt gets finer & as micron number decreases the belt gets finer.

Is there another difference in terms of the compound on the belt?

How do you convert from one to another?

I am wanting to get some belts for shaping & polishing convex edges. Is 1200 grit the finest you can get in grit? Is there a finer belt measured in microns?

I have a 2X42 unit.

He may do a special order for you in 3M Trizact as fine as A3 equals about 4000 grit.

Doug keeps inventory on hand in size 1x42 Trizacts in all "flavors" - those who know Doug call him "Mr. Belt". He lives in Bonham, Texas.

He also supplies the 1X6" strips in Trizacts for the Edge Pro tape blanks!

Thanks.

I'll look into it. If he doesn't have 2X42 I should be able to put a 1X42 right on it.

I just want something to do a super fine edge polish.
