Quick opinion on Marbles off shore offerings?

Hi noticed a China made Marbles Whittler on the auction site. From the pics it doesn't look too bad, and it's only $10, so I know what I'm getting.

I was kinda pleasantly surprised when I bought a couple Rough Riders to mess with and was curious if these are about the same. Not sure what steel they are. They may not be either. Maybe a door panel off an old Chevy. Lol.

Or am I tossing $10 out the window?

Thoughts?

They are good knives.

I have used, modified and sold a lot of them.

I am pretty sure they are made in the same factory as Rough Rider

The only Chinese Marbles knife I have (so far) is their all steel 4 blade scout/camp/utility knife. All I can say is, the Marbles is as good as or better than the original Camillus 1760 "Demo"/Utility knife it copies.

I know that the Marbles brand name is owned by the same US company that owns the Colt and Rough Rider brand names. It is possible that they are contracted out to the same factory so you may be getting something similar to the RRs you are familiar with. I don't know for sure. I don't own any Marbles knives (old or new).

If you are looking at the Sleeveboard model MR295, from looking at the specs and pics on the primary retailer's web site, it looks to be identical in workmanship and design to Rough Rider knives, just with a different shield and blade etch. 440A steel, same kind of lined bolsters, same matchstrike pulls. I'd bet they're made by the same company.

I've had a few of them, quality is OK, prices here in the UK are considerably higher though (and quite a bit higher than RR). I agree with the comments above. The covers are perhaps a bit better than RR, and you get a pouch!

Thanks guys - that's kinda what I was figuring. I'll give one a shot just to mess with. Always enjoy playing with a new knife and they're cheap enough in price.

I would doubt it'd replace one of my more expensive carry knives but one can never own too many no matter what they go for right? Lol.

And if it stinks, I'll have something to complain about. Bonus. :)

I'll let you guys know what I think about it.

I have a Marbles Canoe knife which is about like a RR in my experience. (I have a couple of RR Canoes as well.) It's sharp, the design is pleasing (to me at least). However, the blades are thin by comparison to the Buck Canoe which is from China also, but made to Buck specs. RR's Canoes also have thinner blades than the Buck model.

Marbles (like RR, but without its insane variety) is good as a "wonder what that's like?" knife.

Just got this cattle knife. Great fit and finish, good walk and talk, no blade wobble. Hard to beat for $10 or so.

I have one of these also. $10 new, can't beat it. I would say the quality is there, on par
with other brands in the $30-$50 range. Still haven't carried it, the etch is really cool...

Yeah. Seem the cattle knife model as well. I shoulda ordered one at the same time.

I like that pattern....,

I only have this one example and I really like it. The F and F are decent came out of the box fairly sharp is easy to put an edge on and holds it well. The best part it was less than $12.00 including tax.
