Hey folks. Hope all is well.
Lookin' for a decent EDC and I've got it down to a Camillus Robo Heat, plain edge, no coating, or a SOG Flash II Tanto plain edge, also plain metal.
I was hoping someone might have some input.
I know I'm opening a big can of worms, but if someone has a suggestion to throw in, I'm looking to spend around $50ish, something decent that's beatonable, kinda not ugly, y'know....
I was leaning towards assisted opening, but a good knife is a good knife, so any thoughts would be valued.
Thanks, Taker Easy,
Hop

Here is my opinion. You have great timing. Members will have mixed reviews about most knives. But many will agree that you should get a Spyderco Endura/Delica. In just a few days, a waved version of the 2 knives are coming out. It is going to be great knife. Anything more is just bells and whistles to me. Get a waved Spyderco, you won't regret it.

my opinon, by ahgar king of the fat bald guys. for a good edc the spyderco native is hard to beat especially at wally world. for a somewhat larger edc I also would go with the delica/endura. another good edc would be the kershaw leek or storm 2. as usual your results may vary and void where prohibited by law, not available in canada. later, ahgar

The Heat is a good knife. I had one, I gave it to a friend. I amm just over the novelty of AO knives. I can open my Spyderco holed, CRKed thumbstudded, or Benchmade Axis locked knives just as fast.

If you definitely only want to choose between those knives, I would say the Heat. The ROBO power assisted opening is quite strong, and the knife is a great buy for the money.

Just my opinion, but I'd go with either a waved endura/delica or a regular endura/delica 4. They're sturdy, relatively cheap, have good steel, and come from a great company. Do a search on the Robo Heat. I'm not sure who, but someone here bought one, and had a bad experience with it. I'm not sure what kind of jobs you need it to do, but this member bought it for heavy-duty work, and over the course of a couple of months the blade developed a lot of play. They weren't happy with it in that role. I have no personal experience with it as AO knives aren't really my thing (I live in Massachusetts, which explains a lot). Anyhoo, just remembered that thread and thought I'd mention it. I'll give it a looksee to see if I can find it, but you may be able to as well. It was a while ago.
