took a quick drive to the woods today.. to get some bush time, and to play with my new flint and steel kit
here's a pic of the area
got my main fire for lunch started with the flint and steel kit
(think I accidentally deleted that pic)
butit worked like a charm.. after that I did a little ferro practice...Some oak fuzzies made with the bk7
apparently this is how the cool kids leave there campsites
they where kind enough to leave a plastic bag behind at least, so I could cart it all out.
Stopped by the bombed out shelter up there.. but apparently Tonym beat me to it and left me this message
wanted to see how sensitive I could make a dead fall trigger with the bk7 the rock pictured is about 50lbs.. so it would theortically be good for a possum or a similar animal in the 10-12 lb range and the trigger was hair.. I'm impressed with how well one can perform semi-delicate tasks with a larger knife and a little bit of practice.. guess the tibal guys where on to something..
Had a little company on the trail and wanted to see how close I could get without spooking him.. fromt he looks of his eyes he was getting ready to shed, perhaps that;s why he was so willing to stay still for me.
all in all a nice but boring afternoon..... but hey..
I'm still a fun-gi
