Finally made it out for a bit today to the Platte River bottoms.

Shot a few videos, but come to find out the new camera doesn't do so well with volume when you get away from the camera! So you'll have to turn your volume up for the first video.

After the flint and steel firecraft, from the video, Charred some punk wood, as it was damp and wouldn't light as is.

Then prepped some cordage material (hemp) and let dry for a bit, then started using the 2 strand twist. Made it on the small side, so I can use it for a primitive fishing set up.

Spooked out lots of deer today, but didn't get any photos. But here's some very fresh tracks, I watched them make them!

And a couple river shots, the water is about 4 foot up from normal, and in places is flooding very badly.

And it was time to get going, as the sky was getting dark quick! And being that we had 23 tornados last monday within 15 miles of here, I wasn't sticking around!

Awesome pics and videos, Brandon.
I am seeing more mullien in my area this year also, Last year must have been a off year for that plant.

What pack are you using to carry your gear in?
Look like you had a great day out.

Bryan

Thanks Bryan. That's my issued CamelBac HAWG. Love that pack, with the MOLLE webbing I carry a canteen and cup as well. I leave out the bladder.

Its set up like this picture, using toggles. Makes it easily adjusted and no knots to untie. Also a lot gentler on the tabs.

You put your toggles on the line, then tighten your line. It really works well.

Ia Woodsman showed me that trick. Before I used prusic knots.
