I'm still fooling around with my digital camera. Here's a nice picture of a fancied up Mach 1, it's from a Japanese magazine.

Very nice. Is that from the New York show or one of the three from the Blade Show? Also, is it "Specwar" marked or "EKI"?

I am very facinated on how japanese fans (the ultimate in collector zealots) get so much cool stuff before we even know about it here. Then again I could be wrong and am reading the wrong american knife magazine.

I should pick up a knife mag next time I go to kinokuniya. That's why Jap hobbyists rule.

Why can't we in America get a knife magazine of a similar quality to "Knife"? I asked Tomo Hasegawa and Ichiro Nagata about that and they just shrugged. Quality cost. How many folks are going to pay $10+ for a knife magazine?

For those that haven't had the opportunity to lay your hands on a copy, the closest thing to it in the US is "The Dupont Registry". Incredible.

Tomo and Ichiro were kind enough to give me copies of "Knife", "Arms", "Combat" and a copy of a catalog for a company called "The First".

I'm looking for a local source for Knife and others and personally, I'll pay the $10+ a copy for the quality, can't read a lick of it.

Hello all,I know exactly what you guys mean about the quality of the magazines and such. It's so dissapointing when you see these amazing Japanese periodicals that are focusing on American made items and they show so much more care than the American made books. If any of you guys can make it to Manhattan, the new Knife (12/00) should be out any day now.
John, I'm looking very closely at the picture and I can't tell which logo is on the knife !! Right next to this photo is a damascus Commander which has the Specwar logo. According to the article, all pictures were taken at the SHOT Show. Donald.

Wait until you guys get a gander and the pictures that JZ sent me. He has a real talent with a 35mm.

Hopefully I'll have them up tonight.

Nowhere Fast,
I'll know the quality of these Japanese magazines soon

Thanks again for your help.

These digital cameras are a pain to get just right. I think it's just me. Technology, can't live with it, can't throw it out the window because you paid too much for it.
