I'm looking to add one of these to my collection. Still debating which one though. Maybe you can help me decide.

1. CRK Wilson Comabt Umnanzaan
2. CRK Sebenza 25
3. SpartanBlades Akribis

I picked the Spartan Blades. I love their work and close relationship with Bill (Harsey). It's also the hardest of the three to acquire. If you don't like it you can sell it and buy one of the other two. I'm dying to try a Sebenza 25 though. I have enough Umnumzaans now to get me by, I can't imagine the WC model is that much different.

To me, it would depend on what I currently have in my collection. Any would be an excellent choice.

I voted for the CRK Wilson Combat StarTac Umnanzaan. I really like the Wilson Combat signature Starburst pattern like on my "Eagle" (Les George) flipper.

I've seen the CRKs everyday on here but this is the first time I saw that Spartan. Try something new and go with the Akribis in meteorite grey with the carbon fiber.

I would go for the zaan! I love mine, it is my most often carried big blade.

I'm new, and learning a lot, but I simply have to ask...

First, I have both an XM24 and a large Sebenza. All of the knives in this poll likewise use S35VN steel. I know it's a great all-around steel, but in knives that cost $500 I have to wonder why they don't use a "better" steel -- like S90V / S110V, M390, Elmax, 204p, etc.

Maybe I'm just complaining about something that amounts to nothing, but if Spyderco and ZT can make them, at half the cost, why can't these "high-end" manufacturers?

IMO, people who have high end knives only look at their knives and steel choice really doesnt matter other than bragging rights.

I have never used a knife and thought, damn this inferior steel!

If you cant cut, maybe youre not using it right?

Earlier I posted pictures of a sebenza slicing green onions paper thin and also whittle wood.

serious, I see nothing wrong with this steel.

in what scenario is s90v better than s35vn? Will it cut green onion even more thin? Will it whittle more wood? I whittled for hours with no roll no chip, what more do you need from a folder?

I adopted the philosophy a while back that if I am going to have the knife in my collection, it must be something that I will EDC and that is exactly what I do with EVERY knife in my collection, including my customs. I understand this philosophy won't work and shouldn't for ALL knives, e.g. custom "art" knives, but this is a way I've found that helps me put some sort of limitation or cap on what I am willing to spend on a knife.

I know I am among a minority of collectors out there that EDC everything in their collection. To each his own. :-)

It needs to hold me tight on a cold evening and to whisper dirty things in my ear...

I picked 25. My 25 is the closest to perfection in production folders I have ever seen, handled or owned.
