sorry, knife noob here.

I don't quite understand the term "sticky" but I think my problem is related or might not be related.

it is quite hard to disengage the lock for my new PM2, is this what is meant by sticky? after playing with it for a while, my fingers are sore and numb just by the lock. I've viewed the youtube video where it says to rotate the locking pin via the locking screws, can someone explain how this helps to make it any less "sticky?" Is the pin not perfectly round so as to create sticky spots?

my second "related" problem is that the knife isn't buttery smooth. if i hold up the knife horizontally and release the lock it will drop down, but will not swing back and forth. it will stay unless i grab the knife and move it manually into place. Do I need to loosen the pivot screw or it's just not broken in? Also, when grabbing and slowly moving it manually by hand there is a smaller initial "click"ing sound and then if i move it further it actually locks into place. Does all the PM2's have this double click?

The double click is caused by the detent.
And yes it sounds lire you have a sticky para 2.

So it's normal right?

And could you explain sticky? I thought the lock is supposed to be hard to depress because it is afterall the safety and is a lock first and foremost. I'm having a little trouble distinguishing between an okay one and one that people are saying is sticky.

Send the knife in for warranty work.

My S90v Para 2 had a sticky lock. I sent it in and everything came back perfect. Great job Spyderco!

Yes....the double clicking just sounds like the ball detent. Totally normal.
My Para 2 came a little stiff as well. The lock was sticky enough to cause my finger to hurt some at first. (of course this was after opening and closing it 100 times in a row while sitting on my couch watching tv:)) It all smoothed out after some use. I would just give it a few drops of lube/oil, adjust the pivot screw to your desired tension, and break it in a bit. It sounds pretty normal for a new para 2 to me. If you still are not happy with it you can always send it in.
