Quick question about a sprint run PM2

Ok, so I know that the PM2's are getting harder to find now due to slow production and I've seen them for around $120 now. I've recently stumbled upon a sprint run PM2 on blade hq that you can preorder. it's the one with the brown g10 and s35vn steel and that's for $150. So my question is, is it worth the $30 extra bucks to get the sprint run PM2 over the normal PM2?
Thanks,
Zach

With this one, unless the brown is really doing it for you then no. The reason I say that is S35V is not a whole lot different than S30V. On the other hand the green (which the pre-order is sold out) is $140, and you get CTS-204P which is Carpenter's version of M390 which is a big improvement over S30V in terms of edge retention. The blue can be pre-ordered again for $180 in M390, which to me makes the green a bargain. You can find a regular for under $100 if you look hard enough, that would be my choice if I did not have a pre-ordered one coming.

I'll take Brown scales over blue.
That's really the only deciding factor when gettin the S35vn sprint run.

Do you like the brown?

The green was definitely a bargain for the lucky few that got in on the deal but OTOH their deposits will be tied up for a year or so before they see the product. The preorders are sold out and the waiting list is very long so I don't think anybody from this day forward will get a green one for anything near that price.

I've read pros and cons for the S35VN steel. You can find expensive knife makers using that steel when they could afford to use lots of different steels, I don't know if that means they know something that other people don't. I also think you can find the brown para2's on the used market for less than that preorder price and get them right away. I think if I was buying a normal para2 right now I would buy the digicam model and put it in the red dye. As for relative value I think the brown plus the different steel puts the sprint run model worth a good amount more than the standard model so it depends on what you can get the standard model for and how quickly you can get it. Probably nothing wrong with S30V steel anyway. The only one of the browns that I've handled was perfect in fit and finish and smoothness of opening and operation of the lock.

Sucks to be me...

S35VN and S30V will perform just about exactly the same, S35VN might be slightly easier to sharpen, so really the only difference is the color of the G10 and exclusivity of the sprint. So really its up to you whether it's worth it or not. I ended up getting one, but only because I found it very close to the price of the regular version and to add to my sprint collection.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

I do kinda like the Paramilitary(2), probably a little too much. It's strange but, it's one of those knives that is perfect for my needs and covers the bases very well. To answer your question, I would definitely get the brown variant in S35VN. The reason for the peice difference can be attributed to:
1- Cost of the raw material
2- Difference in cost of the heat treating protocols
3- Availability of the steel
4- Markup for being an exclusive.

In the end, totally worth it.

Here are my 2. I have had every flavor that has been available, but only kept these 2. CF S90V is the pinnacle of PM2's, and the Digi cama/black DLC blade with black hardware is the sexiest PM2 IMO.
Nothing wrong with the brown S35VN specimen, nothing really special though, especailly if you are not that fond of brown G10. YMMV.

My 2 carry PM2's...BANG BANG!!

Here is my pair- the blue is in my EDC rotation, I haven't decided if I'm going to carry the brown or not.
