Quick question about CQC8.

Does anyone know what a new CQC8 should actually go for? I understand that the market dictates the price, so where is the market at on these things?

I offered the gentleman who has the CQC8 for sale $1200, because that's my limit. Is that too low a bid for it? $1,500 seems high, but then again, I'm a newbie, and you guys would know better than me. Is someone going to grab it at $1,500? I hope these aren't too many questions.

Don't mean to beg the question, but markets are dynamic. There aren't an unlimited number of CQC8s out there so it boils down to how much you, a buyer under no compulsion to buy, will pay, and what a seller(if you can find one...it appears that you have...isn't this Forum great?), under no compulsion to sell will accept. Basic supply and demand stuff, but it works.

Expensive as some thought it was, the 8 is sold. What an efficient market this is. Any of us get it?

Question:

I've got two CQC8's One has a satin blade.

The other one I'm not positive about and need your help. I'm aware that some blades are Black T. and some are Black Oxide. What is the difference between the two?

The blade on mine is lighter (in weight) than the new CQC8, the the finish is shiny. I believe that it is Black Oxide. Can someone shed some light on this?

Sniper 308,
Black Oxide (Gun Bluing) is fairly flat and looks kind of Charcoal in color. It is non reflective and an excellent finish.

Black "T" is a proprietary name for a Teflon Coating Hybrid process I believe either developed or used exclusively by Mr. Walter Birdsong et al. It is deeper in color w/ a Matt finish and slightly more reflective than Black Oxide. It is a coating
applied I'm told by heat & pressue then cured.

Derek or Ernie are better qualified for more specifics. Hope that helps.

Tamisigiri:

Thanks for the explanation. From your description mine is Black T rather than Black Oxide. Your description fits it exactly!

Happy Thanksgiving!
