Hey guys, i am in need of a little help. My wifes boss is switching health insurance providers for his 8 employees today. My wife and i already have insurance so she had to sign a form stating she is already covered and is denying there coverage. She's had to do this in the past and all it took was one signature and it was done. Now this new potential provider is requiring proof of coverage and wants a copy of her insurance card. Is this something new? Why do we have to provide proof of who our insurance is through? Is it now required that every employee has to have insurance?

Thats what i said. Her boss switches providers every 6 months and the last one we had was horrible with sky high copays so finally we got sick of it and signed up for our own insurance.

I just didnt know if there is a new law requiring employees to provide proof of coverage or what. I dont see why they would even ask really.

This is routine. They have to know that she is denying their coverage because she has something else. Remember, thanks to Obama, we all have to prove that we have something.
