Quick question about the 119

Hey guys, I am looking for the blade and front guard only of a 119. Does Buck sale anything like this?

The reason I ask is because I have accuired a good bit of stag and have been thinking about a few projects. I was talking to my wife about it (one of her patients brought the stag in to her). I showed her one of my user 119s and said this would look good right? She said "it looks good as it is, why would you mess up a good looking knife"?

Then I thought she is right, why mess with a good thing if I can get one that is not finished.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
John

Sorry, but Buck doesn't sell any components or individual blades. Check with Jantz or Texas Knifemakers Supply for pre-made blades that are already heat treated.

Thanks Scott.

I have looked at a few blanks from a few places, but for some reason I want to do a Buck. I may take the rubber off of my 639 fieldsman.

Thanks again,
John

I'd think eBay would be the best bet for a grungy 119...Maybe one caught in a fire, or run over by a truck...or just not wanted any more...That's how I got mine...A returning vet needed the money...

Looking at eBay Completed 119 sales - $20.50; $21.27; $21.76...That's pretty much pocket change...

Agreed. Sometimes you can get a real deal. I picked this one up for under $20. It's in a lot better shape than the seller described. Heck, the leather sheath can run nearly that much.

Quite a bit under $20... :D

I've been toying with the idea of re-gripping a 120 ever since zach2025 posted his before pics...I'd like to remove the grip and thread the haft (right nomenclature?) and install M9/Colt 601 grips/guard on it...IOW, make a Buck 120 bayonet... :D

I have a 119 that I paid $20 for and it is my user. I posted a new threat (which one gets it) with pics of what I am thinking of doing.

Thanks,
John

Hello John,
Sorry but Scott is correct in that we do not sell components. There is some great advice in this thread though. If you have any questions as you get into your project, feel free to ask. I will help if I can.

Thank you very much Joe. This is one of the reasons I think Buck knives are one of the Best knife companies around.

Thanks again,
John
