Quick Question about Trance Flipper Opening

Hi all,

Just got my Trance DP in the mail yesterday, loving it :) After loosening the pivot a wee bit and adding some tuf glide, this sucker deploys like a dream. This is my first knife that has a tang flipper, and I have a question: can the blade be deployed by the flipper without any wrist action? I currently cannot, but I'm just wondering if it can / supposed to be done (I just don't have the dexterity / strength / technique yet)?

No, I don' t think that' s possible.
Atleast I didn' t ever manage to do it, and I' ve had my Trance for about a year and my flipping technique is pretty much perfect.:p

Alrighty, I didn't think it was possible, just wanted to make sure :) I don't particularly care if it could or couldn't to be honest, but if it could, I wanted to be able to do it :D

Thanks

Aloha Lock1454,

miro44 is correct...it takes some wrist "oomph" to deploy the blade via ala Carson Flipper.

Thanks for clarifying miro44, and enjoy the DPT Lock1454!!!

God bless!

It does take some wrist action to deploy as Chad said...However I find that I can open them just as quick by using my opponents body (kinda like brushing it open on a limb) to activate the flipper and get the knife to a full open position. It's fast it's easy, just use a little creative thinking about grip position to accomplish....Doc:D

Easy to say when you are Immortal...

God bless ya SSifu!

Well... you could always wave it out of your pocket ;).

I've found that if you use the proper lube, and as it loosens up a little (my pivot is still fairly tight) - you can index-flip it open with minimal wrist action. Not quite as good as most Kershaw flipper actions though.

However, the Trance is a very good EDC knife. IMO, it could just be made without the flipper and have a longer edge.

Though I do admit it is easier to do with the Direkt...it still can be done with the trance..and you don't have to be immortal..LOL....Doc:thumbup:
