i'm in the middle of moving to fort hood, texas. i'm currently looking for an apartment.

in the meantime, i've stored my ammo in my car. with the heat and all, is this going to be safe for the time being?

I'm not an expert, but the military keeps ammo in boxes, APC/tanks/hummers, and loaded in magazines/weapons in the desert heat. I would think that you shouldn't have a problem but just to be sure I would contact the manufacturer.

For short term storage, it should be fine.

It takes maybe a year before it will start to degrade in the heat.

should be fine as long as it is in boxes or cans.

a sudden sharp impact directly on the primer can obviously cause a discharge, but will just be loud and not likely any damage.

also, i would think the interior would have to heat to several hundred degrees to risk a cook off.

Yes.

The only problem would be if you made your own "Hot 'N' Heavy" ammo that was borderline for what your gun could take and then it got very temperature hot in your car. Then if you shot it, it would be too hot for your gun.

Other than that, stored ammo can take an awful lot.

No.

If your car is broken into, you've armed/rearmed your local gangs.

A car is a glass box. Never leave anything in a car that you wouldn't be prepared to leave in a fishtank on your driveway overnight.
