Quick question for you becker fans

I'm looking to purchasing a new knife for hunting. I have been using Gerbers (I know, I know....), and CRKTs. Now is have a entrek(11 bravo) and I love it, and since I prefer stainless I was thinking of getting another (jag or survivor). Now my question for y'all is how do you figure a Becker would fair as a hunting knife in comparison to the two entreks I listed; I'm looking at getting a bk15. I need to knife to handle camp choirs with ease, dress down a kill so I can pack it out, and be able to baton fair enough for a 10" or so knife. Now I primarily hunt in so cal where it is fairly dry, but I tend to be hard on gear and I will do being a hunt on a island of the coast and probably a few more where it's a little more moist. The bk15 in my opinion is near perfection, but I just can persuade myself to by a carbon knife when my stainless knives out perform the few carbons I have. Any help is appreciated, thank you BK.

I like SS knives as well for hunting (S30V) but I don't think they perform any better. The heat treat on the Beckers (Ka-Bars) is excellent. Edge retention is nearly as good as my S30V blades. I am hard on equipment too, and occasionally will leave a knife or tool in a bag for a week or better without cleaning it or oiling it and have not had any rust issues that could not be wiped right off. I think the 15 wold make an excellent choice.

A bk16 would be a great choice! The 1095 cro-van is plenty strong enough to handle camp choirs, batonning and what not. As far as gutting and skinning just keep it clean and lightly oiled after use and your good to go. You will be happy with a Becker

The 15 is a great choice, but I don't know that I would baton with it... for that, I'd go with a 16 or 17, if you want a smaller blade...

Tanto's (like the Survivor) are not the best pattern for camp/utility tasks IMHO.
The Jag is a very similar blade shape to the BK15, except for being more than an inch shorter in blade length, so I would give the BK15 the nudge in that comparison.

OTOH, while I would love to tell you a Becker will do what you want better than any Entrek, I think the Javelina would make an awesome companion blade to your 11-B. (of course, for the same amount of $$, you could get both a BK15 AND a BK16...) :D

I figured as much for the tanto point.

My 11 bravo rides in my rig as a crash rescue knife, sucker will chew through anything.

Simple solution: 440c Becker line to match the 2013 line from esee

I would never substitute 1095 cro-van for 440c! And I love me some 440c but KA-BAR's heat treat is sick! I love that stuff!

you need a second sheath for the 11-b so it can go out and play without messing with your rescue rig.
Try the 15 -- if you hate it, I'm sure you can find a fair trade for it from someone here. (I have one, but I like the 16 better for most duties)

i think a 15 would make a great hunting knife as for the 1095 like the others have said keep it clean and iled it will be fine. you will love a becker for sure.

The sheath sucks haha, but then again I've found all stock sheaths suck

will it fit in a spec ops combat master?
they're not bad and the company does some pretty good deals on their clearance page occasionally.

because the raw material cost is the least of the costs associated with making a becker knife.
it takes nearly as much machine time to cut out and grind the 15 as it does the 5.

Can someone explain why there is only a $10 difference between the 5 and the 15?
Because we live in a society based on immediate gratification along with supply and demand. If people want the 15 over the 5 they are going to go ahead and buy it, right now, damn the cost and consequences. As less people are clamoring for the tweeners I'd be willing to bet that the prices are going to go down.

Take a look at the FPR from SMKW. When they first popped up, there were several people that paid the premium for the knives either individually or as a full set. Now they are going for less.

Perfectly honest (non-snark answer) check out Tomars Ka-bars for the BEST pricing on Beckers, I would say almost hands down.
