Quick question (SFNO/Spec-Ops)...

Anyone here know if a standard width sabre SFNO will fit in the large Spec-Ops sheath (with a bit of modification, of course)?

Thanks in advance.

If mymindisamob got a Heavy Heart to fit, I'm sure it'll go.

I had trouble with the liner contracting after it cooled. Found it best to tape up the knife really well to add some thickness. Then, when the liner cooled and shrank, the knife still fit.

Certainly will! As Guyon said, tape the blade up. I usually put a couple of layers of flexible masking tape on as I don't like too tight a fit in the kydex.

I don't have a SFNO, but I made HHFSH fit like a glove in one with help of a heat gun.

Without cutting the back of the kydex out? Good going!

I fitted the kydex to the blade of my HH but then it just wouldn't quite fit back into the sheath and I had to cut the back out. Then it fit well. There will be a picture back above when I get my server issue sorted out.

I have wondered if there is some variation in the width of the sheaths, between the stitching.

Anyway, the SFNO fit very easily.

Nope.. I didn't have to cut the back out, but I did have to pry the Kydex back into the sheath. I actualy had to lay it flat and beat it in with a hammer...

Do you get a fair bit of kydex rub on the knife if you had to do this?

Nice collection there Foxyrick! Are all the sheaths there the "large" size?

I share the same knives or have had them....I moved my ASH LE on and stick with a Skinny Ash I stripped and polished and fully convexed....also dropped the point slightly for better alignment/force....but I do like those sheaths for a practical webbing carry! Is the sheath for the ASH LE still a large?

What size fits a Jackhammer and SJTAC? Also would be interested in the correct size for a SAR 4 LE?

I think you have the best of the bunch right there in "user" Busse's for belt carry! My FBM LE (combat grade ) and my NMFBM all seem too big and go either on or in my Bergan.

Working out which I like the best or "works" the best out of those we share is still a "headscratcher" for me....size/weight/performance wise....I guess for carrying ease and still having chopping performance the SFNO LE is probably the "best" compromise....what do you think?

The Razor and ASH 1 are in the smaller sheaths, although both need the retaining screw at the bottom leaving out.

I don't have an SJTAC or SAR4 (yet...), although I would be surprised if they wouldn't fit in a small sheath. They all have shorter blades than the HR. and I don't think they are broader.

I used to carry an Al Mar Pathfinder Combat Machete (13" blade, 18" overall) strapped to the side of my Berghaus Crusader when hiking, under the right-hand side pocket. Great tool for clearing overgrown wilderness camp sites and making firewood.

My CGFBM occasionally comes out with me in a padded case inside my pack. Not yet got around to making a sheath for it and these days its probably not a good idea to hang it on the outside anyway. Don't know how I used to get away with my Pathfinder really, except that it wasn't too obvious the way I had it tucked tight up the side of the rucksack.

I think you're right about the SFNO LE being about the best combination of capability and size. I like the razor for its light weight and quickness in the hand, but the SFNO beats it for heavy tasks and isn't far behind on others.

Yes, I carry my larger blades inside the Bergan...I have the old Berghaus Cyclops Rock with pockets and can put one on the outside once I am away from sheeple or if I have got the Bergan off the truck when on exercises....putting it on the outside too soon on exercises and someone will be tempted....

Thanks for the info on these sheaths as well!

I've got a SFNOLE in Spec Ops Large. Fits no problem. I did end up messing up the liner but got Robert H in the sheath section to make a custom kydex liner.
