quick question term:chisel zero grind

Chisel grind: The main grind is on one edge of the knife only.

For Emersons, this almost always means the presentation side (tip up, handle down, edge down -- the left side).

For Japanese knives, this usually means the side that you are handed for, so for right handed people, on the right side (back side).

Zero grind means there is no edge thickness and no edge bevel -- the grind goes straight to the edge. For a short enough grind, this will be synonymous with "single bevel".

Zero grind is what a chisel (for woodworking) has as well as Japanese kitchen knives.
