Hello folks,

As the title says: here are the competitors:
1. REKAT SIFU in D-2
2. BM 750S
3. BM 710S
4. CRKT M16-3
5. CRKT PointGuard large
6. MT SOCOM elite plain edge
7. BM stryket serrated
8. gerber SLG 3.25
9. Buck 110 buckcote
10 Buck 110 FG

I am looking for a daily carry, to play mostly but to do some heavy work too from time to time.
I can carry the SIFU, but the effect on people is stronger with this one then with the others I guess
Well, which would you use as daily carry?
and which to do modification such as inlays, filework and stuff (hobby of mine).

Greetz, bart.

Definitely the 710, if it wasn't partially-serrated....

So, I guess the Socom....

I have 2 REKATs as my daily carry knives:

Sifu (ATS-34, black G-10 scales)
Carnivour Cub (ATS-34, black G-10 scales)

...One in each front pocket of my Levis.

.

As far as modifications go, I have smoothed-out the edges of the G-10 scales on ALL 5 of my REKAT folders, and also rounded the peaks of the finger-grooves on my Sifu (and pocket Hobbit), and now they all feel just fantastic in my hand.

Considering the large size of the SIFU, does anyone ever say to you: "Is that a SIFU in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

glockman- what happened to your cold steel voyager? i though you carried one of those...

My REKAT Sifu isn't all THAT large (12 inches long, total)...If you want to see LARGE, you should see my.......Cold Steel Vaquero Grande.

. That 13&1/4 inch-long MONSTER makes my Sifu look like a "pocket-knife".

wanted to add..
it isnt on your list, but im gonna recommend the BM AFCK. very cool blade.check it out.

Maurice,

I still have my 5 inch Cold Steel Clip-Point Voyager, and that still IS a "mean-looking" folder, but the Vaquero Grande, and especially the Sifu, have sent the XL Voyager back to my knife-drawer...

BTW...I have noticed that there now IS a "glockman" here at BF, so PLEASE refer to me as "glockman99" in-order to avoid confusion between us 2 "glockmen".

Bart, if I could only carry one it would definitely be the 710. If I could carry two it would be the 710 & Sifu.

Go with the SIFU! That sucker will stand up to every day abuse and still serve as a defensive folder if the need arises. I have seen a fileworked carnivore floating around on the internet, maybe the same treatment would be cool on a sifu...

I like my CQC7a but that is my favorite so I guess I am partial ..then again I could be wrong

I used to be disgusted .Now I am just amused....I feel much better now that I have given up all hope

Hi Bart. Everyone else mentioned a few things about a couple knives. I'm going to try to give you a better answer and cover them all.

1. REKAT SIFU in D-2
Do you really want to carry a SIFU?
2. BM 750S
3. BM 710S
Both are excellent. If you like the axis lock, go for it. You'll have to decide on the size.
4. CRKT M16-3
5. CRKT PointGuard large
What price range are you talking about? Both great knifes, but softer steel. Also, I have a friend who uses a Kasper CRKT as an EDC because it's easier to sharpen than ATS-34.
6. MT SOCOM elite plain edge. Excellent, but as EDC? I carry the MOD trident, either that or the Mini-Socom as good alternatives.
7. BM stryket serrated
NOW THIS IS A TOUGH KNIFE!!! This knife is often overlooked in our current discussions but is just as good and tough as anything on your list. This is the one I would recommend. They even make it in D2.

8. gerber SLG 3.25
9. Buck 110 buckcote
10 Buck 110 FG
These last 3 knives all good, but you'll have to decide if you want them. Don't let the "steel snobs" tell you that you don't want a BUCK 110. It is the choice of MANY people. However, I personally prefer the thumb stud (or hole or whatever). And I don't know too much about the Gerber.

Personally, I would go with the Styker or miniStryker because it has the toughest blade. Or the 710/705 if you like the axis lock, but the blade is more slender.

Hello, and thanks all for the replies..

I do have a remark..nobody seems to think of the BM 750S, it is NOT a 705, but it's a pinnacle, BM's frame lock knife.

I think the (till now) winning combination is a SIFU and the BM 710..

What would you people say if I would make a talonite or K190PM blade for the 710?

Of the knives on your list I would go with ethier the 710S or the Point Gaurd. It isn't a knife that you have listed but I think you should get a MT LCC M/A.

Carry the BIGGEST knife you can get into your pocket! You can always pack a second peice that is a bit more pc in your off pocket. I carry my MADD MAXX in my right front pocket and a Spyderco Dyad Jr. in my left front. Quite an extreme.
