I could have probably put this on the SwissBianco board, but ya'll seem to know everything. I am sprucing up a co workers SAK Tinker, from the 80's. the plastic scales are lookin rough. Does anyone have a home remedy that could maybe buff them out a bit? They are just dull.

Buy one of those headlight restore kits one that comes with the sand paper I think it's 2000,3000, and 5000 grit also comes with plastic polish

Thats probably the best option. Flitz polish might work as well but dont quote me on it.

good lord, is that a signature? it's half the size of my screen.

Plastic polish available at the hardware store might be a final step.
You could sand out the deeper scratches with some silicon carbide paper at 360 or 600. step up a couple times, then buff with the polish by hand or on a wheel. Maybe test an area with your highest grits on down until you find what will take out the marks. Then start at that one and work your way up.

re: off topic - shop talk over in the bladesmithing section might be a reasonable location for a question like this.

While we're off topic, i'll say that the package is all wrapped up but I have not mailed it yet.

Awesome, I will stop obsessively checking the mail box :)

And thank guys, that was all super helpful, and confirmed my ideas. You rock!
