how big of a knife is allowed in your car in the state of california?

the only restriction to vehicle carry is for a switchblade, which must have a blade under two inches.
per the penal code, a dirk or dagger must be concealed upon his/her person. so in your vehicle you should be ok. although i would not recommend putting any weapon under your seat or within immediate reach, (for my purposes here any knife is considered a weapon), just looks bad.
in the glove box or trunk. if you are thinking you may have to cut yourself out of the car/seatbelt, a folder would be a better choice.
