Quick Quiz

For one thing, they showed the Schrade USA tang stamp ('46-'74 it was Walden). That would make it post '74, not "Vietnam era", unless you want to really stretch things (best I remember our involvement began with 400 "advisors" in 1961, and ended in spring of '73 with the final troop pullout). For another, the gold spike was never meant to be an assault, er..uh..."fighting" knife. At least I don't think that Uncle Henry had that in mind. And I doubt it has a carbon steel blade. I've never seen one that was carbon steel. And finally, the listing states it is located in Texas, but the stated blade dimension is very close to standard. And it is common knowledge worldwide that everything is bigger in Texas! :D

Good going, Codger. You know your history. Based on his past purchases, the high bidder likes army things, so maybe he fell for the supposed 'Vietnam' link.

I'm just thinking that anyone who buys that good OLD (ummm, maybe not so old) knife as a military "Fighter"....probably hasn't read Colonel Applegate...

But I bet you, and certainly others here, could take some nice pelts with it, Phil.
