This thing is HUGE! :D

I was thinking of getting the UF rods for my sharpmaker for quick touch ups, but I only really use the flat part. SO... I thought this would be a better choice for me. Boy I was right! I always keep my edges nice, so this is for daily up keep on my EDC (what ever it my be :D)

Next to a Dia-Sharp......... Its a beast!

This Sage would shave, but not pop hairs and not whittle hair. About 20 swipes and she is back up to snuff.

I can not get this stone to tree top.... yet. :D Like my 6000 grit tape on the edge pro, but its a lot less set up time and is still "sharp enough" for most all EDC stuff.

Well worth the cost, as always with Spyderco ;)

I have the UF Sharpmaker rods and really like them.
Thanks much for the photos of the large UF stone.

Hi So-lo,

I'm thinking of picking one up myself . However this baby is on this years new item list and could be a good alternative too, ( think SE recurves & hawkbills too):

I think i hold on till these show up.

The golden stone, it looks great. I will be picking one up when they come out. I think it will only be Fine, not (UF) Ultra Fine like the 306.

Spyderco is bring'in da heat :D

I posted some inquisition on the spydie forum. I thought it would be Ultrafine too. I'll let you know when i get answered. Also on ETA.

That DMT Tan one Tombrogan posted about also awoke my interest.. ;)

Bump for a great stone! :D

Over a year later and I'm still using it EVERYDAY, it holding up great

Honestly it's the perfect touchup stone, I have had great luck with CPM S30V, S60V, S90V, CPM D2, CPM M4, 20CV, BG-42, VG-10, AUS-8, 420HC, Case'S SS and CV, 1095.... Do not listen to people who say it will not sharpen the harder steels, it does and does it WELL! ;)

OK, rant over.... You owe yourself this stone.... So get stoned already would ya!!! :D

So will this stone clean up after a DMT EE? Is there any sort of grit rating (I know its very subjective, but just curious). Just trying to get an idea of where this stone falls in the hierarchy, or what it may be comperable to.

The UF is said to be about 3 microns but because of the different type of abrasive it will yield better polishing effects. A difference in sharpness will be noticed with some stainless steels and if you want a true mirror polish it works great after a EEF. The UF ceramic and eef dmt are probably the two best finishing stones you can have in you arsenal.

So-lo are the edges of the stone square or rounded?

If feel like I should know the answer to this, but is this a stone that requires flattening or not?

Also, I poke around on the straight razor forums a bit just to glean what I can on sharpening (we just think we're a crazy lot lol), and some dude on there wrote of using a diamond stone to get a light swarf going on the 306 and raved about its cutting abilities (compared it to a NIB diamond stone as far as material removal speed went). What do you guys think of this?

Is that the new 3x8" Spyderco ceramic stone ? They come in all three grits ?
My 2x8" came +- .001" so, they are close . DM
