Sent over my abused AD6 and got it back late yesterday. He took the time to get it right and hair popping sharp. Thanks!

That AD6 sure is sweet!

I have a new Busse showing up tomorrow that Chris put a new edge on, can't wait to get it in hand! Chris is a great dude and very knowledgeable about Busse and sharpening. He is always blowing my mind with his insight. I'll get some pics up once I have it in hand 🍻

Just got in a TGLB with his edge on it. Absolutely superb work.

Ah, yes I recall THAT one which went up for sale recently. I actually thought about asking the owner of that TGLB when I did the reprofiling work if he might be interested in selling it, as I've long lusted after TGLB w/ black paper micarta. Then I thought about it for a second and realized I had way too many knives and another knife makes that problem worse. And then..... I saw it go up for sale here for a fantastic price and was just about to post 'I'll take it' in weakness, I was seriously RELIEVED so see that you had beat me to it. For your information, that one was sharpened at 15 degrees per side and tapers up to around 20 degrees per side at the tip. Gives both a pretty even bevel with along the entire blade AND reinforces the tip quite a bit than if it were 15 DPS to the tip.

Enjoy that one, my friend! Here's some pics for others to enjoy, I took a few before I sent it home.... ;) :)

I haven't sent a blade out since Josh stopped taking orders, but that AD6 has got me thinking 🤔...

Don't think too hard on it, you may just talk yourself out of it! If you're afraid of me pulling a HACK-job and ruining on of your precious Busse blades, perhaps you can send me something from another maker to see firsthand what you think of the end result. I work on other brands too, here's a recent one that's headed to a friend here on the West Coast .. :). I've never actually owned an ESEE before but after having this one for a minute here I'd definitely like to have one.

What's the ordering process? Do you have a website?

I do not have a website currently but have plans to get that together shortly. Ordering would be the same in either case as I have to get an idea of what you would like done in order to get you an estimate. Generally speaking, most knives and tools can be fully reprofiled and sharpened for $30 plus return shipping. This can also include if the tool's edge is heavily damaged (assuming the damage is not so extreme that I really have to do a massive amount of grinding to remove this).

If we are talking about Busse brand knives then I'm familiar with them all so just letting me know what model you have is usually sufficient. Once we've worked out the details then you can mail me your cutlery and I can generally finish the work within 1-2 weeks. After completing the work I will email you a picture of the results and I will quote you the total price with return shipping for payment and mail it back to you.

I can use whatever carrier and shipping options you require, also. Folks have generally been sending me 2-3 blades at a time to help minimize the effect of shipping costs being high to send just one knife. Sending an extra one or two along usually don't cost significantly more than just sending one. In many cases I can give you a generic price for return shipping which is very similar to the rates Busse uses for shipping but if the tool is quite large and heavy this may not be possible.

Just got this jh10 in from Chris and this edge is perfect. If I remember correctly it's 17dps and certainly the sharpest Busse I own right now. Can't wait to test out the edge on some wood once the snow goes away lol.

Thanks again Chris! Appreciate all your time and effort!

Thank you for your feedback, my friend! I am very happy that you are satisfied with the result. Please share your findings when you've tested it, good or bad, I welcome it all.

I snapped a few pictures of that one before I sent it back to you so I'll share them here for others... :)

Thanks for all of the info you’ve shared with me and hooking me up with the stonewashed WS-422 and Mashed Cat sheath you had around. Awesome knife and great grind! Cheers!!

15dps For a large blade like a Busse is perfect.

Hello
Really don't mean to hijack the thread, but U think getting rid of (stains/spots) like these is something they'd do ? While sharpening ?

That you can likely fix up yourself. Buy a can of Barkeeper's Friend and wet the blade before sprinkling over the blade. Rub over spots for a minute or so and it should come right off if that's oxidation. Tree sap may need something like a solvent to thin out and remove. If it's really deep then it may need something like a Scothbrite Hand Pad or Wheel to abrade enough steel to remove. BKF works wonders though, once you try it you'll never fear rust again (that you can see anyways).

....also try one of the "Magic Eraser" blocks you but in the kitchen isle of the supermarket. Works great on many such issues.

Years ago Pokey suggested them to me for cleaning blades when we were talking and I have not looked back since. Great on coated blades as well as uncoated.
