Quick slip joint question

To what grit size do you finish the parts of the blade and spring that touch eachother?

I leave the tang at 400 grit and buffed, where it rides on the spring I leave at 120 grit if the steel is stainless.

Also do tang at 400, but spring at 220 in line with spring.

My tangs are 1000 and my springs are 400. All lengtwise.

Maybe I'm overdoing it...

Often the same grit on both will tend to gall
