Quick solutions for coating a knife?

Hi,
I'm thinking of coating a knife in a bronze color. I found a few ways to do this, but I'm looking for something more easily accessible that I can just pick up from a Home Depot or something.
I found some threads about Cerakote and KG Coatings. They seem to be for firearms so I trust their quality, but I'm a little impatient right now. Perhaps there's some enamel paint I can quickly grab and bake on? Rustoleum or Krylon or something?

... or is patience (and extra cash) a virtue here?

Thanks

hm, actually coating is the wrong word... I'm looking for more of a plated look

like nickel or chrome? bill deshivs would be the guy to talk to about that :D if you have it done the way he does it, the plating would not be like what you would see on a bumper with a layer of copper before chrome that peels off. it actually becomes part of the steel the knife is made from. the blade has to be carbon steel also.

Hey Richard! Long time on speak :)
Kind of like chrome plating, yeah, but with more of a coppery, reddish bronzish look. Checking his site, I see he has gold, nickel, and silver platings available. I might ask him for advice rather than getting it sent to him for work.
It's SR-101 (proprietary 52100) and I think it has 0.98-1.1% carbon, so according to this amateur referencing Wikipedia, it's a high carbon steel. I'm definitely going for a "fused coating" rather than something that peels off. I'd like it to keep that metallic look.

The oven-tempered Cerakote (H-series) is supposed to be one of the most durable finishes on the market... I would either do that or parkerize it, which would be sweet. Don't know about the copper/bronze look, sorry. Krylon for metal would probably work decently if you sand blasted it first and prepped it right. Good luck!

Cerakote has a color called burnt bronze. I spray it all the time and it is freaking beautiful. By far one of my favorite colors.
