Quick Stropping Question

When im finishing my knife I have a strop loaded with 1 micron dia paste, I was just wondering if I should end with that or if after stropping with the dia paste go to a plain leather strop with nothing on it?

I finish mine on plain leather.

That's up to you. No harm in trying different things out. There are so many variables involved, i.e. what steel, abrasive type & grit progression prior to stropping, technique, etc. Many do prefer to finish on a bare strop after any or all compounds (even the leather is another variable, i.e. veg-tanned cowhide vs. horsehide). Give the bare strop a go, and see what difference it makes (or doesn't). The interesting thing about stropping is, the more refined your edge is prior to it, the more difference you'll see after stropping on just about any material (leather, wood, paper, linen, etc.). A lot of surfaces can make a difference, the finer the edge is.
