Ok guys, I need a quick answer in this. Tomorrow a friend of mine is going to give me a choice of 2 surefire flashlights, and I can pick one for free for helping him.

He is offering a silver E2 Executive or a Black Z3 Combatlight...which one should I choose? It looks like surefire no longer makes the Z3...

Some quick answers would be appreciated b/c im leaving home at 7am EST...thanks!

I suggest the E2e. It's rated for 75 minutes on 2 batteries. The Z3 is going to burn 3 batteries and I doubt that it will last longer or even as long as the E2e -- most 2 battery Surefires only go 60 minutes.

The E2e is much more compact. This means more convenient, which means you will take it with you more readily, which means you will use it more than you would a Z3.

The Z3 is a much brighter light than the E2e but not as well suited for general use. If you are looking for a mainly defensive light get the Z3 otherwise I would also recommend you take the E2e.

E2E. A great light on it's own and can easily take a KL1 or KL4 head.

Plus, it's just the right size for pocket carry, even with those two optional heads.

waddaya mean, they dont make replacement bulbs for Z3's anymore??? WTF?? that cant be...............

i would choose the E2e myself, the Z3 is not much brighter, and the E2e is good for edc while the Z3 is not so good, though its ok too.

The bulb for the 9P/C3/D3/Z3 (P90 Bulb) is not discontinued.

Whoops, looked up wrong model. That's what happenes when you do stuff 2 in the morning. ::embarassed

This is too late, but does "E2 Executive" mean the E2 or the E2e? The former is short for "Executive 2", whereas the latter is short for "Executive 2 Elite". I'd make sure that it was an E2e, because it then has a Pyrex lens, removable and sturdier clip, and a hex bezel.

Alpha...you made the call I did. It was an executive 2..and jsut didnt feel as nice as the Z3. I did end up choosing the Z3 becasue its larger size is better for my larger hands. I jsut plan on keeping it next to my bed as an addition to my home security...and some utility use.

Thanks for all of your input guys...once again proving this is one of the best boards. Sorry I didn't follow your advice, but one it's in your hands...you know...like a knife. There is part of it where it is just how it feels in your hands.
