I love swaybacks, and would love for my first made slip joint to be a swayback. Question though, how much of a curve does the spring side have, radius-wise? I can't tell from pictures, is it a continuous curve or does it start about the spring pivot pin? Thanks all. I love these knives, I need to just buy one and stop drooling.

Well it depends on who is drawing the pattern! I just free handed mine with a slightly compound curve the entire length. Use your french curves to get a nice shape, and if you don't have french curves use the outline of your dress shoes!

The curve of a congress pattern is pretty close to the same, so if you have one of those you could easily modify the shape into a swayback.

Here is mine that I am working on (before the bolsters) and you can see the swayed back pretty well

^^^ great picture! Would really like seeing step 20, 21, 22, etc... ^^

I was just going to snap some photos of mine to upload and I saw this thread next: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/924700-New-SBJ-(pics)?p=10493763&posted=1#post10493763

There's a photo there that oughta do it, though now that I look again, the 'in-hand' one does seem to look like it could be straight, with a vector change in the middle; weird. It's a continuous curve all the way though, as I'm looking at mine here. One same curve from bolster/pivot to barehead.
