I'm not really supposed to be buying any more khuks for myself at the moment ($7,500 of impending home improvement and a 6-week old baby will do that), but I'd been meaning to get one for a friend of mine for a xmas present.
I saw the wood handled BAS by Sher pop up in the daily specials and decided to get the khuk for him. My BAS by Kumar was my first HI khuk, and has served me well. When the new wood one arrived (promptly as ever) I was surprised to find that it's a completely different animal than mine: Much shorter handle -- by a full inch, and a slightly smaller blade with a slightly greater curve to it. Also, it continues a nice trend where each HI khuk has been sharper than the last to cross my doorstep. Apparently my old BAS is a giant among BASs.
The dilemma and solution:
My friend is as large as I am not: He's about 6'3" and 280lbs and I think his wedding ring was originally a napkin ring. The pretty new little BAS ain't gonna fit in his hand so well.
Soooo... I'll be gussying up my old BAS as the gift and keeping the new one. Thanks Bill and Yangdu for the wonderful double gift.
