Hi,

I am a newbie re. Hinderer knives (at least I own a ZT 0551 and a 0560). I am interested in purchasing a XM-18 3.5 flipper...I see zero availability at their online dealers and from what I read Hinderer only sells directly to military/LEO personnel. So here are my questions to you, knowledgeable fellas of this part of the forum:
- in your experience, how often does Hinderer make a batch of their knives for their dealers? Furthermore, do you think one is due soon?
- how fast do they get sold out (I imagine really quickly...)?
- what is the price range for a XM18- 3.5 flipper?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Welcome. Right now the Hinderer elves are in FULL "Blade 2012" mode, probably 18/7 (Rick lets them sleep a little).
The "batch" that was in production was 3" slicers. I imagine each batch has Dealer supply lines as part of the plan along with direct orders.
Pricing is included in an above (Main page) "sticky" but list price is $385.00 on the knife you specified.
I have checked Dealers (links on Hinderers website) and have been surprised often by knives landing in stock.
Other places to look; Here on the exchange and the normal other places of which again, one never knows.
I have picked up two (2) that way.

I know of one dealer that has a couple of 3/5" XM-18 in stock. Expect to pay ~$1k for one. If you think that is shockingly high (and I do too) I know of another dealer that is out of stock, having sold out recently for ~$200 more each. I have been watching the market closely, especially on a few forums, this being one. It seems rare to see a used XM-18 for under $700 and you see plenty well over $800. Customs command a bit more, of course.

If you have a good idea of exactly what you want and how much you are willing to pay for it, if you get a little obsessive about watching forums and you act without hesitation, you get yourself a good knife. If you snooze, you lose. The more you are willing to pay, the better your options are.

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate the info.

I will patiently scan the dealers and see what I can do. Thanks again fellas.
