I am thinking of ordering 1 or 2 Buck Striders this A.M. My concern/question is this. How is the Buck big? Length, is no longer than most of my other large folders. Smaller than my Sifus. This makes me think that the size differance, is in the thickness. Could someone out there give me the blade stock thickness? I would also like to get the outside dimensions? Everyone always posts the lengths of a folder in the open/closed positions, but leaves out all other dimensional stats. I feel that thickness effects carry as much as length does. So how thick is the Buck Strider, and how wide is it?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

blade thickness: 1/4 inch
Handle width: 7/12 inch

thsi is with my small spearpoint

I will try to provide the information you requested and hope that you receive it in time to help with your decision. I am giving the dimensions as I have just measured my own Buck Strider 880SP using a non-scientific carpenters steel tape.

Overall Length: 9.25" [9 1/4"]

Blade: Length 3.875" [3 7/8"]
width 1.1875" [1 3/16"] (.5" out from handle)
Thickness .1875" [ 3/16"]

Handle: Length 5.375" [5 3/8"]
Width 1.25" [1 1/4"]
Thickness .625" [ 5/8"]

That deals with the strictly physical dimensions but doesn't really give the full answer to your overall question of "How is the Buck big?" I can only give you my impression and personal response to that question. To me, the dimensions of this knife just don't give the whole story. Buck and Strider have managed to design and build this thing in a way that just exudes strength and confidence for the user. Without being warlike or aggressive it just gives the feeling that you would have a pretty good chance of being able pry the hatch off of a main battle tank with it. (Please forgive me for the hyperbole, I just couldn't help it.)

For me, it would be larger than I would consider suitable for carry in casual slacks (certainly not in a suit). For everyday carry in jeans or work clothes I find it to be quite suitable and appropriate.

Go ahead and order them. I don't think you can go wrong.

Thanks for the quick replys you guys! I decided that they sound big enough for my tastes. I ordered a large Tanto and Large Spearpoint. I can not wait till they arrive. I will have fun I think.

if you think the buck striders are nice, you should get one of the REAL striders. i just got a GB and oh my god that thing is awesome, expensive but worth it!
