I don't usually buy a knife on the same day that I find out it exists, but the drift was a rare exception. It checked a lot of boxes.
  • Tall, thin slicey blade
  • Washers
  • Rust proof
  • Cool texturing on the front scale
  • Single sided hardware
  • Internal milling
  • Deep carry wire clip
So far it delivers on everything that I thought it would. It's thin, it's slicey, it's light, and the fit & finish is flawless. I'm not super concerned about rust, but the fact that it is nearly rust proof might make it a good candidate for a backpacking knife.

Here it is next to a couple other ti edc favorites, the small inkosingo and pena ff apache.

The tall and thin profile kinda reminds me of the trm neutron and atom.

Great choice. Absolutely love my Drift and love Vanax 37. The thumbstuds are an improvement IMO. Quiet Carry has been making some great knives lately, esp the Drift and Waypoint. They don't seem to do any marketing so maybe that's part of the "Quiet" brand lol. Funny that you have it next to a couple TRMs which is all marketing but no availability.

What's the detent like on this version? I had the original version with the thumb hole, which I liked, but the detent and opening hole system just weren't quite right in my opinion. I have the Waypoint which is dialed in perfectly, and this updated version of the Drift with the thumbstuds looks similar.

Not sure if you're asking me or the OP but I'll answer anyway. The detent on the new version is excellent. Dialed in just like my Waypoint. It rockets out. I can thumb flick it and spydie flick it and once broken in it basically drops shut with one shake. If I have any criticism of the knife it's that the torx hardware is a bit shallow so if you take this apart you have to be very very careful not to strip anything (same goes for Waypoint).

Thanks to this write-up I decided to give one of these a try and I absolutely love it.

Simply wonderful detent and action. The titanium scales are finished very nicely as well.

Quietcarry does modern style carry 10x better than The James Brand; at similar prices, better fit and finish, better material, no silly ads/commercials.

I mean, where else can you get easily accessible Vanax?

+1 for the Drift, just a lovely knife all around. It's the first knife to nudge my Spyderco Salt 2 out of my pocket in wet weather. I lucked out, because the version I like best (SWSA) is the one everyone else seems to like least; it's still in stock. :)

I don't really understand why this knife is getting sung more praise here. Lack of availability? I mean there is a LOT to like here.

Thin, tall Vanax Superclean blade
Titanium framelock body
Internal milling
LC200N lockbar insert and overtravel stop
Ceramic detent
Titanium hardware
Deep carry clip

Add the wonderful fit and finish, along with the excellent action and it's one heck of a knife for ~$300.

Nick Shabazz recently did a video on it singing it very high praise so maybe it'll start catching on.

As it is... You guys on the fence are missing out imo.

The machining on the whole knife is really, really good! It became super apparent when I took it apart. The pivot has a little spot machined out on the blade and scales so it doesn't spin, and all of the screw inserts are D shaped.

Too small and I don't like the choil on the blade.

Word. I can understand that. I prefer a 2.75” - 3.25” blade and love finger choils, so the design is right up my alley. :)

That size always feels too small for me, like my hand is slipping off the handle. And I don't understand finger choils on most folders.

Someday I’ll have to try a Quiet Carry knife again. They seem to have come a long way.

I bought into the Quiet Carry Strand when they were a Kickstarter. The D2 blade rusted way too fast for D2 and wouldn’t hold an edge. The body screws were soft and shallow and after light use would no longer hold the scales together without slipping.

Point of origin was a mystery too. Quiet Carry was a bit evasive about whether the knives were assembled in USA or made in the USA. I’m not sure if that’s been clarified.

Obviously they’re getting glowing reviews now so they must be doing something right.

You definitely won't have a problem with the Vanax rusting away, lol. It's heated by Peter's Heat Treatment too which I think is a solid choice for smaller runs of a production knife (even if they do torch straighten occasionally). The screws seemed solid when I took it apart. :)

I'm fairly positive that the knives are manufactured in China.
