Kukris are big and cool and sometimes a guy's just got to carry his. When I'm out in the piney woods, it's typically because I'm bow hunting and my (Ka-bar) kukri is big, bulk and tends to want to whop into things - my leg or hip, my bow, my quiver, bushes, small trees, big trees - the list goes on.

I've carried it (factory scabbard, btw) on my strong side hip, on my weak side hip, both with and without the end tied to my leg. I've carried it on a paracord loop over my head and one arm and so forth...

How do you guys carry yours *quietly*? Is that even an attainable goal?

You guys are a wealth of info - what say you?

Have you tried between you shoulder blades on your back ala Conan the Barbarian?

...wear it across your chest....over one shoulder, under the other..I really can't think of how to describe this method of carry...wear it like the super commando guys wear belts of machine gun ammo in the movies..tie the bottom of the strap to your blet or through a belt loop to keep it from bouncing on your chest..

Bandoleer carry is good for large knives and khukuri's. I don't consider the kabar or cold steel to be real khukuris, but bandoleer is still the way to go.

I've tried neither middle of the back nor the chest but I will. The chest option might be sketchy - can't have it interfering with my bow string. Were you thinking handle up or down for the front option?

Flashpoint - you had me at 'Conan' cause I *know* the riddle of steel. :-D

As to the Ka-Bar one not being a real kukri - probably not but the price was right and it seemed to be more than capable of doing what I want with it - so good enough for now. Besides it would be silly to get a super-duper real one and continue to wear it like a dork (like I'm currently doing).

Thanks folks!

If you're bow hunting, you would want handle up facing away from your draw arm...
