Hey Don, with all this rain, the creeks are to high for fishin so I was able to pull myself away from all those fish'in forums. :D

Heres a piece I finished up yesterday. I want to give a big THANK YOU to Don Hanson and J. Neilson for taking the time to answer my many questions I had during its construction.

OAL 15 1/2", Blade length 10 1/4". Blade, guard, ferrel and pommel are all from the same damascus (600 layers). Handle is ivory with 6 flutes and 6 nickel/silver wires.

Thanks for lookin and let me know what you think.

Bill

That is some great looking steel!
 on this knife from someone who doesn't know much, but who knows what he likes:)

Simply awesome. I havent yet tried my hand at a fluted, wired handle like that but surely will at some point. I love the guard in particular, very wicked looking.

Where does a dagger like this properly balance at? Is a proper dagger balanced at the ricasso, or back in the handle?

I like that you weren't afraid to actually put a point on it. Looks like it could actually be used for stickin'. The patten in the damascus on the ricasso reminds me of a thumb print. :)

That looks to be VERY nicely done indeed. I like the way the damascus pattern is perfectly centered relative to the width of the blade. Great work Bill!

Great work, Bill. The damascus pattern really works for this. Your handle is top notch!

I knew you could do it, Bill. Very Nice Work Man!!!

Nice having that one out of the way, right?

Now, go fishing :D

Wow, I met you at the Chicago Show this year and was very impressed with your knives. Great job on the dagger!

Thank you all very much for the nice comments, I really enjoyed working on this piece until it was time to start grooving and fluting the ivory, thats when it got scary with every stroke. Next one shouldn't be quite so nerve racking, but that will be a while.

Thanks again I really appreciate it.

That knife looks amazing! I love the ivory handle, it really sets off the damascus blade. Great work on the guard too.

I agree Roger, the centered pattern shows tremendous control of the process.

This is a extraordinary dagger representing exceptional skill in multiple areas.

Reminds me a little of Don's dagger from last blade show.:thumbup::thumbup:

Stunning is what I think sums it up.

I like everything about it.

Thanks for posting it.

This is the toughest knife to make for the MS test.

I think it looks great for the most part. The guards on quillion daggers are often too exaggerated and this one could be a bit smaller for my eye, but otherwise you nailed it, spot on.
