This is my first post of the new year!
A friend of mine living in Japan came to visit for a couple of days. He brought me some knife related stuff, including an article from an English language newspaper. The article is about a Japanese smith named Shigeyoshi Iwasaki, who lives in Sanjo City. (There are about 2000 smiths living in Sanjo City according to the article.) Iwasaki is 66 and has been forging blades for his entire adult life (the article says his straight razors can split a hair in three). This is a quote from Iwasaki that I thought you smiths out there might enjoy.
"Someone told me that smithery is a Godgiven occupation, so you can never escape it. It is something like fate."
I thought that was an excellent quote. I hope you enjoy it.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."
