OK I’m”not a collector by any means but I have become a buck knife “ addict” for lack of a better term. I now own 20 buck knives for example. So I need some expert advice about as to what the stamped figures mean. Recently purchased three so called production run knives. 212, 102, and101 They all have the BUCK LOGO, THE ANVIL STAMP AND USA stamped on the blade. None of them have the model number stamped on the blade.Just trying it to figure it out. As far as actual value goes I don’t care, love them all.Just curious about it The 101 has a production run number of 032 on the other side of the blade which I understand does’t mean much.

The 101 probably came from Copper and Clad. Their first 100 is numbered for some reason or another.

Yes, it did come from copper and clad. Just trying to educate myself on stuff ( finally after more years than I want to admit to).

I don't know the reason why some models have the number and some don't. Most do for sure

They say copper and clad number the first, I think it's 100 of the first production run of their exclusives. That just means the first 100 knives of a model configuration made just for c&c will be numbered.

The other questions I have are, what configurations of those models did u get (handle material, blade steel)? Are they stamped or laser etched (stamped is deeper laser etched is just on the surface)? Did they all come from C&C?

There is a method to my questions, I have a theroy.

Pretty sure the anvil is used for custom shop orders - and those will not have additional date code or model markings.

(*it was also the date code for 2002, and there were no model numbers stamped that year.)

The anvil is used in the custom shop knives and limited collection knives without a model number or date stamp (most of the time) unless older blades where used for limited collections. Those knives are sold with a certificate of authenticity that will have the year built and model number.

Thanks for all the info. Always learn something here. My opening statement said 101,102 and 111. Actually that’s wrong , should be 101, 212 and 111. Still waiting on the 111. The Other two are lazer etched, the 212 is black phenolic handle and the 101 is ebony Dymondwood. All are 420HC

Yea I think like a few ppl said above and kinda what I was thinking, copper and clad has their exclusives laser etched without the model number.
