These are growing on me. Still down on the list a ways, but I do beileve they've made the list, what with all the glowing reviews. The pics showing how far it could get into a 6"x6" helped too.

Damn, that is the twin of mine, but just 1/8" longer and 5 oz. heavier. Looks identical otherwise. This should be a super hard-hitting knife, and you would not believe how comfortable that handle is.

Maybe it's still here the same reason I didnt' catch it; I thought this was an old thread with the same or similar title.

There is something goofy going on with the BF email... I emailed Yangdu, but got no answer. I'll try the above and see what happens.

OK! Got hold of Yangdu, or vice versa, bought the knife, received it today, my first HI purchase!

This knife is a beast. Holding this tool you know you have a hunk of steel in your hand. It has plenty of mass for serious chopping of various sorts.

Wasn't terribly sharp when it arrived, but it's certainly sharper now!

One thing I don't get; the scabbard. Not real impressed with the scabbard. Is this thing seriously meant to be carried on the belt, or is the scabbard just to protect the edge? The loops are loose enough that they allow the knife to slip at least an inch out the bottom of the scabbard, exposing the edge.....

Hmmmm.

Good to hear that you got it Andy. The stick knife can sure be a beast.

As for the scabbard, I am guessing that it is meant for carry ;) . As for the blade protruding past the end when its fully buttoned, I am not sure what can be done to fix it other then a new scabbard.

i think you can stitch a leather pocket or a piece of leather on the bottom to catch the blade after its buttoned in. just an idea

Although it has a belt loop, that scabbard is intended to hang from a nail...search for the first one and you'll see it used that way. It's a blade protector...as you said, it's a hunk of steel. I use mine all the time and *don't* carry it.

Hope this helps...but there are a number of guys here who have done scabbards for HI's ( Hello Dan?)

Whats the intended use of the stick knife? Is it a chopper, a specialized tool, etc? Is the flat end sharpened?

It is mainly for chopping, batoning, drawing and debarking, from what I have seen since getting mine. I haven't done all those things yet, but likely will.

The end of the knife is not sharpened, but the edge corner certainly.... is!!
