R-7 in USPS limbo . . .

I hope this works out for you...

What part of the country do you live in? Priority took two days to travel 300 miles, and one week to travel west to east coast for me. If you live near the east and this didn't leave for another day or two, it could be perfectly on time. Hopefully, having the confirmation # will sort everything out. By the way, what is Yangdu's e-mail - I've been trying to find it?

Relax since it's quite out of your hands. Good luck.

I bought a villager on 10/20, haven't seen it yet, but then I'm in Canada so a week or two extra would be no surprise. I wonder if maybe the California Wildfires have slowed things down (the routes mail takes never surprise me).

HI shipping is normally very quick, although there are sometimes when one might take longer. Almost all of mine have come USPS, although I have had one or two come by UPS.

Hopefully it all works out.

Every single one of my 40+ HI products have been shipped USPS Priority Mail. I think Uncle Bill tried a different shipping company (DHL?) a few years back and promptly went back to USPS after some problems.

Generally speaking, It takes 2-3 business days for my packages to make it to me in Indiana. I would say that it is probably lost in the mail or at the post office (I had a box sit at the PO for months before it was finally forwarded to me), or sadly stolen.

I would shoot Yangdu another e-mail to see if she has any more info. This situation is an exception to the norm, for sure.

Good luck and I hope this gets solved quickly. Those R-7's a great knives.

Strike that, mine just arrived. Comments, maybe some photos and the like after work.

It BETTER NOT have been shipped to a P.O. Box via UPS!!!!!

The last knife I bought on eBay got lost when the seller shipped via UPS -- and instead of leaving a notice, the driver LOOKED UP MY OLD ADDRESS ON THE INTERNET and dropped it off there -- where it was promptly stolen off the front steps by the crackheads from the housing project next door.

Please, Aunt Yangdu, tell me this wasn't shipped via UPS!

I should of included in that first post that the only ones I have receaved by UPS have been a number of years ago and it was only because it was a good size order (4-5). Since you ordered a small knife (by HI standards) it will probably come in a small USPS box.

I wouldn't worry too much. Yangdu probably shipped same-day and it's working it's way through the system. I've never gotten anything from HI that wasn't sent USPS. Most stuff arrives very quickly, but occasionally something takes a bit longer.

My first Khukri from H.I. (20" Ang Khola) arrived in about 5 or 6 days.

Ditto for #2 (25" Sirupati)

My prized 21.5" Chitlangi by Sher holds the shipping record for anything I have bought online: 3 days!

I bought a 25" Chitlangi by Bura on sunday. It hasn't beaten the record, but I'm sure it will be here by the end of the week.

The distance in question is from Reno Nevada to rural southeastern Ohio. Three days to travel across the continent is impressive.

tyr_shadowblade, email Yangdu at the address listed in some of the posts if you have not done so already. I've got a few for HI and that one always works for me. When I lived in Ephraim and Spring city (80 miles south of here) I would get my shipments in a week or more. But since moving to Provo I've gotten then in 2 to 5 days. Used to joke that Sanpete County was the black hole for the USPS and other shippers. Hope your package comes soon.

I live in Florida and it never took more than 3 days to get here.

HOWEVER, it's happened before, and just this week happened again, that our local PO got a shipment in for me and DID NOT NOTIFY ME that it arrived. I had ordered something that was coming by parcel post (supposedly 2-9 days ship time) that was shipped on Oct 14. Well, I went in TODAY, and told them the deal and that the seller confirmed that they shipped and would the person please go back and check if there was a package for me. Lo and behold, there it was. It was even marked on the box as having been received on Oct 20!!!

So. . .your package MAY be there afterall.
This has happened more than once to me.

Looks like the last time Yangdu logged on to the forum was yesterday, about 16 hours after you started this thread. I'm not sure why she wouldn't be answering your email, unless it was getting caught in a spam filter or she's away from the computer.

I sent an email directing her attention to this thread, and asking if everything was OK. I'll let you know if I hear back.

What happened to me once...

Box never came. I went to the PO eventually, and asked them to check in back for a package for me. "No, you'd have gotten a yellow slip if we had a package for you," the clerk said. I politely insisted.

The man disappeared and reappeared, handed me a box with a khukuri in it without a word.

Y. usually sends them "delivery confirmation" these days- I think.
